“Gold Squirrel” of Vietnam’s Sport
With his aptitude for athletics first becoming apparent when he was a pupil at Yen Mo A High School in Ninh Binh Province, Nguyen Dinh Cuong gradually affirmed his position in the sporting arena with achievements at a series of local and national track-and-field competitions. Thanks to his great effort and hard-training, he was selected as a member of the national track-and-field team. Nationally, he now ranks first in the medium-distance track event and is considered the “gold squirrel” of Vietnam’s sport.

Heineken Stars Tennis Tournament 2008

The second Heineken Stars Tennis Tournament held in Ho Chi Minh City attracted the participation of four tennis stars. It is the second time Vietnamese tennis enthusiasts had a chance to see in person the skills and techniques of the world’s famous tennis players and the tennis organization board’s ability of organizing the first-rate tournament.

Vietnam-Brazil: A Friendly Football Match

About ten thousand Vietnamese football fans flocked to Noi Bai Airport to welcome the Brazilian Olympic Football Team who arrived in Hanoi for a friendly match with the Vietnamese National Team on their scheduled tour in Asia. Many football enthusiasts were elated because they had a chance to catch a glimpse of, take photos of and ask for autographs from football stars, such as Ronaldinho, Pato, Anderson, etc. Furthermore, tens of thousands of people nationwide came to Hanoi with a hope of buying a ticket for the match.

Ma Vinh Trinh – “The One-Handed Strongman”

“The One-Handed Strongman” - that’s the nickname given by the Vietnamese martial arts community to Ma Vinh Trinh, a martial arts instructor, when he swung up onto the stage and superbly performed his stunt, titled “The One Hand that can Pierce through Rocks”, with his left arm just like a cutlass made of steel. Quite a few people think he is a weird bloke with a weird physiognomy.

Bao Long Martial Arts School

Established on October 20, 2007, Bao Long Martial Arts School in Co Dong Commune, Son Tay City in Ha Tay Province is the result of the cooperation between Bao Long Herb Medical Group (Vietnam) and Xiao Long Xiao Lin Zi Academy (China). This is the newest model in the public education system for talented students in Vietnam and Southeast Asia. Apart from learning school subjects, the students are taught martial arts and basic medicine and practise mental and physical exercises resulting in a well balanced mental and physical development.
